The left coronary artery (LCA) arises from the aorta above the left cusp of the aortic valve. it is also known as the left main coronary artery (LMCA).

Function:

Left main coronary artery supplies oxygenated blood or divides into two sub branches

  1. Left anterior descending artery and
  2. Left circumflex of the heart.

1: Left Anterior Descending Artery Supplies oxygenated blood to the anterior portion of the septum as well as to the walls of the ventricles and the left atrium (this is the front region of the heart).

and the Left Circumflex Artery Supplies oxygenated blood to the walls of the ventricles and the left atrium (this is the back region of the heart).
