CAUSE OF HYPERTROPHIC CARDIOMYOPATHHY

It is caused by various problems. High blood pressure is most common cause of thick heart muscle which may causes stiffning of heart and Irregular heart Rythem. It is inherited heart disease meaning that it transfers inside the family from parents to the children. Genetic factor is also involved in it. It is considered that several genes that controls for the growth of the heart muscle are responsible for this heart disease.
Thick heart muscle disease makes heart muscles to get harder and efficiency to pump blood is reduced.
In hypertrophic cardiomyopathy one side of the heart (either left or right) is thicker than the other. It is more severe in younger people but condition of this disease is seen in people of all age.

Symptoms:

Hypertension is the main symptom and cause of hypertropic cardiomyopathy. Is is also known as high blood pressure.
Heart Failure in some patien is also a symptom of thick heart muscle.
Chest pain.
Dizziness.
Feeling light headedness after exercise or any activity.
Feeling own heart Beat.
Shortness of Breath.
In some patient no symptoms are found but after medical examination this disease is found.

In young athletes hypertrophic is the major cause of their sudden death. This is due to heavy exercise. They feel healthy but doing heavy exercise they die of thick heart muscle.

Treatment:

Treatment of Hpyertrophic cardiomyopathy is done to control the symptoms of thick heart muscle. Some patients need to stay in hospital until the conditions are normal.
Patient need medicines which will help heart muscle to contract and relax properly. Some medicines like beta-blockers and calcium channel blockers may help to reduce chest pain. Some people with arrhythmias also need medicine that work as a thinner for blood and prevent blood to clot. These medicines are anti-arrhythmic and are used only when arrhythmia is due to atrial fibrillation.
Pacemaker is also used, for some patients. It is need permanently, however, it was used in old day now a days use of Pacemaker is low.
Sometimes Surgical myectomy is also done. In this treatment thickened part of the heart is removed to make the flow of blood efficient. This treatment of hypertropic cardiomyopathy shows much more improvement and patient feel relax.
Alcohol septal ablation is also done in some cases to prevent heart attack. This is done by injecting alcohol to the arteries. Alcohol feeds the thick heart muscle.
